EMHL is currently being established at TU/e, and we are building a diverse and interdisciplinary team of researchers who share our vision for the future of scientific discovery.
Founder / PI
Pietro Caprioglio
Assistant ProfessorPietro Caprioglio is an Assistant Professor in the Applied Physics Department at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), working at the interface of photovoltaics, materials science, and artificial intelligence (AI). He received his PhD in Experimental Physics from the University of Potsdam and Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin and subsequently conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Oxford, where he combined advanced optoelectronic techniques, drift-diffusion simulations, and device engineering to understand and mitigate the fundamental mechanisms that limit the performance of perovskite solar cells.
He later joined Hanwha Qcells as a Senior Research Scientist, leading research activities that integrated machine learning, advanced characterisation, and device physics to support the development of high-efficiency and stable silicon–perovskite tandem technologies. His current research at TU/e focuses on AI-enhanced optoelectronic characterisation, materials discovery, and autonomous laboratories for the development of energy materials and high-efficiency solar cells.
